About UsScott C. Brower R.Ph., B.C.N.P. and William C. McHugh R.Ph., Ph.D, founded Mid-America Isotopes, Inc. (MAI) in 1990. Each founder has over 25 years of practice in nuclear medicine as a nuclear pharmacist. All of MAI pharmacists are either a Board Certified Nuclear Pharmacist, have a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree, or hold an advanced degree (Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry). Mid-America Isotopes, Inc.
is a radiopharmacy (also referred to as Nuclear Pharmacy) that provides
nuclear medicine, technologist services, pharmaceuticals, equipment, and
drug analysis to hospitals, clinics, and other health related
businesses. In addition to being a licensed
pharmacy, MAI is a Licensed Drug Distributor and an approved CLIA
Laboratory licensed with the Department of Health & Human Services.
These additional licenses allow us to provide our customers with
services not currently offered by many radiopharmacies across the USA.
Many of these services are labor intensive and are extremely
valued by our customers. MAI designs and manufactures
special equipment used in hospitals and nuclear pharmacies throughout
North and South America, Europe, and Asia. MAI holds a clinical affiliation
with the University of Missouri. Students
enrolled in their nuclear medicine program will train under MAI
radiopharmacists to learn radiopharmaceutical preparation, quality
control procedures, radiation safety, and various other nuclear medicine
procedures. As a University
of Missouri teaching affiliate, MAI radiopharmacists are extremely knowledgeable and
up to date on the latest drugs and procedures used in nuclear medicine.
As a provider to the nuclear medicine community, MAI believes strongly in supporting nuclear medicine education and research. MAI has been successful in this endeavor by providing cash donations, merchandise, and clinical instruction.
